New Category for 2026: In-Camera Artistry

Editing has always been part of photography.
Even in the days of film, the final image wasn’t created the moment the shutter was pressed - it happened in the darkroom. But this innovative new category is about stripping everything back to the process of capturing the shot.
In-Camera Artistry is designed to reward photographers who can create something exceptional straight out of camera. It’s about nailing the light, timing, composition, focus, and exposure, and using real photographic expertise to bring the image to life.
To really extend the limits, photographers might like to consider multiple exposures, movement, filters, creative lighting, and other creative or clever techniques.
The only editing allowed in this category is straightening.
This one is a challenge, in the best possible way. It’s for photographers who’ve always wanted to prove they can create a jaw-dropping image without “fixing it in post”. We can’t wait to explore the possibilities of what can be crafted in-camera!
